Jan Gierse
M.Sc.Jan is an extremely creative and solution-oriented mechanical engineer with a clear focus on additive manufacturing. He completed his studies at the University of Paderborn in 2018, followed by a research position at the Chair of Lightweight Construction in Automotive Engineering, which he held until 2022. In 2020, he founded Addition GmbH together with Florian with the aim of making contour-accurate temperature control industrially viable through additive manufacturing. In the same year, he also launched Utsch & Gierse Tools UG, a company that specializes in high-quality knives with additively manufactured titanium handles and blades from Solingen. After completing his academic career, Jan joined DMG MORI Additive GmbH as a systems engineering specialist. There, he works worldwide as an expert in the maintenance, modification, and operation of existing SLM systems. His exceptional technical versatility stems from his early practical experience: even as a teenager, he repaired and modified engines and machines for biogas plants—using components he designed himself and then welded, milled, or turned. His sound scientific training, coupled with in-depth practical knowledge, makes Jan Gierse a sought-after contact. He is known for his precision, customer focus, and innovative strength. With his combination of research, entrepreneurship, and industrial application, he makes a significant contribution to technological development at Addition GmbH.
